So now I’m on the Creepy Myspace. I still hate it, but since everybody in the goddamn world is on it, I figured maybe I could score an extra reader or two that way.

So if you care:

I don’t really understand how half of it works (it took half the morning and two people to post a simple html entry), so don’t be offended if I don’t “friend” you immediately or whatever. I’m generally a pretty amicable person, and if you want to be my friend, I’ll respond in kind. So if I end up ignoring you, it’s technical ineptitude, not a slight at you.

This is the greatest idea for a comic book ever. It takes place in an alternate future ruled by liberals, where G. Gordon Liddy and Sean Hannity are cyborgs fighting the establishment.

I might actually spend money on this. It’s just that great.

If you’re a fan of Back to the Future, you might want to check this out:

It’s the original first draft to part II, where Doc and Marty end up going to the late 60s. It’s not very good (it IS a first draft), but there are some fun ideas in it… and an entirely new way of looking at Doc.

Beatlemania re-re-re-re-redux

I’ve been on a Beatles kick again lately, which I have enhanced with choice selections from Netflix.

First was Concert For George, which was a very sweet and fitting tribue to George Harrison. Clapton, Ravi Shankar, Ringo and George’s kid, among many others, were in top form. The only kind of… off thing was Paul, who showed up most of the way through and played a couple of songs kinda half-heartedly. Or maybe I’m just reading more into that than there was. Ooh, and they also got the surviving Pythons (minus Cleese for some reason) onstage to do a couple of quick songs. (George helped bankroll Holy Grail and Life of Brian.)

Next was John Lennon: Imagine, which is a bit redundant if you’ve seen the Beatles Anthology. (I have — I own it.) There was an interesting nugget or two, but for the most part… yeah. Same ground covered, more or less, in the Anthology, along with the life stories of the other three.

Finaly was Backbeat (the dramatized story of the early Beatles — mostly of Stu Sutcliffe), which was a lot better than I expected. it wasn’t a masterpiece or anything, but it was a fun little story with a fair amount of T&A to keep things interesting. Also, Sheryl “Laura Palmer” Lee, sporting an über-hot pixie-ish “mod” haircut. Oh, and music. Good music, though it doesn’t actually sound much like the Beatles. The actors they got ARE pretty good though. All in all, an entertaining way to spend 2 hours.

Well, it only took them 30 years or so, but Wendy’s has apparently finally mastered vanilla milkshake technology.

It’s an amazing feat of marketing that they’ve managed to get people excited over this.

This essay perfectly sums up my feelings on 9/11:

Go to YouTube and search for “Look Around You.” Now watch them all. Trust me.

It’s a BBC series that mocks low-cost science documentaries like you might see on PBS or in a community college class. I actually didn’t realize it was a joke at first, as it’s very dry and British.

Here, I’ll get you started with one. It’s fried gold.

Thanks to Lauri for pointing this one out.
